The 41th edition of the Puegnago del Garda Fair opens tomorrow, August 26th: a now historical event that this year comes back relaunching itself as a renowned showcase of the red wines of the Brescia Garda Riviera for a “stretched” weekend of tasting sessions that will end on Monday 28. In short, after a spring and summer focused mainly on the promotion of rosé, the Valtènesi Consortium is preparing for autumn giving way to another important fringe of local production and offering consumers, enthusiasts and winelovers the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the reds of the territory in “combine” with extra virgin olive oil.
The heart of this renewed strategy will be the event “Groppello & Casaliva Experience”, three days devoted to the two native cultivars of Valtènesi (grape and olive) with a tasting banquet of over 50 labels and a review of monovarietal oils from 6.30 to 10 pm, with entrance 5 euros including bag and glass. There are also two real masterclasses, group lessons conducted by experts Onav and Onao, devoted to the evolution of Valtènesi’s red wines in the last ten years (Saturday 26 at 9.30 pm, 5 euros, 25 participants, bookings at 0365-555060) and to monocultivar oils (Sunday 27 at 9 pm, entrance 5 euros, reservations at 0365-651391, info@aipol.bs.it).
Another great news for this edition is the Red of the Year Award dedicated to the memory of Sante Bonomo, former president of the Consortium Valtènesi, who died prematurely last March. Only the labels qualified for Excellent Wine (minimum 85/100) in may at the Polpenazze Wine Fair, the official competition for the Doc Valtènesi, Garda Classico and Riviera del Garda Classico, will attend the competition: a specialized committee will taste again the finalists, among which will be the absolute winner of the award recognition, an artwork and design of high symbolic value that will pass each year into the hands of the new winner in the wake of the Pompeo Molmenti Trophy assigned to the best Chiaretto of the year in Itala in Rosa, the rosé fair on stage every June in Moniga. The award ceremony for the first edition of the Prize is scheduled for Monday 28 at the end of the conference “Garda Bresciano and Valsabbia: a plan for a common territorial valorisation”, always planned at Villa Galnica at 6 pm with the participation of Gal-Garda Valsabbia.
Finally, in the winery of Villa Galnica, the Casa del Vino, a new project by the Valtènesi Consortium, will be inaugurated and opened to the public, aiming to equip the territory of an ideal place to allow traders, winemakers and winelovers to know and taste the whole production of the Brescia Garda Riviera.
